Meet our Experts
Anabette Z.
One of our experts since: February 2020
Specialty: Dogs
Biography
Anabette has loved dogs since before she can remember, and has had the privilege of sharing her life with a series of border collies. (Admittedly with the inclusion of a scrappy terrier, an ecstatic golden retriever, and one of the most laid-back huskies ever to walk the earth.) Each dog has enjoyed dressing to impress, whether through the discrete inclusion of a patterned bandana across their shoulders or by rocking a doggy-sized tweed sweater-vest.
Anabette’s recent transition from working in an office to working from her patio at home has given her even more time to enjoy the company of her current four-legged family. (And of her human family, of course!)
Joshua C.
One of our experts since: May 2022
Specialty: Avians and Canids
Biography
Joshua has spent most of his life sharing hearth and home with a wide variety of dogs and birds. Most of his dogs have been suitably sized to enjoy long hikes in the woods – both local and abroad – while Joshua collects data for either his day-job with the DNR or for his hobby as an avid birder.
Outstanding items on Joshua’s bucket list include seeing a wild peacock (not to be confused with the occasional zoo escapee), and to finish hiking the Appalachian Trail (preferably leaving the chainsaw-wrangling to younger sets of arms, though he’s not entirely certain how hiking the trail works without trail maintenance as a side-gig).
Lauren S.
One of our experts since: January 2020
Specialty: Cats
Biography
Lauren has lived with five generations of cats; many throughout their entire lives, some rescue cats from points well beyond kitten-hood. Occasionally she has been in a one-cat home. Far more frequently she has lived with two or three cats of a variety of fur lengths and personalities. Some cats have been enamored of all clothing options (both cat-sized and human-sized); others have barely tolerated their collars.
Lauren is currently retired from her day-job as an accountant, but remains fully employed as a grandmother, cat-lover, and knitter (a hobby which the cats love, too).
Martin J.-K.
One of our experts since: June 2023
Specialty: Large Animals/non-standard pets
Biography
Martin is a recent semi-retiree, formerly employed as a large-animal veterinarian and currently employed as a consultant for his replacement. Over the course of his long career, Martin has rarely had fewer than five animals in his house at any given time (most of them patients, some of them of the variety that pay their bills), though he claims to have sworn off mixing species after the week hosting three rodents, one fox, and a pony in his garage. His current long-term four-legged companion is Chase, a recently-rescued dog of indeterminate breeding and regrettable disinterest in fashion. Chase does enjoy playing in the water when accompanying Martin on his daily constitutional, though!
Martin truly believes that the best measure of a person is the opinion of the animals in their life. He hopes to always have a variety of four-legged friends to put in a good word for him.
